Soda Ash, also known as “washing soda”, is used as an assistant with alum. It helps to increase fabrics’ absorption of dye and hold color. A highly alkaline substance, sodium carbonate, is an essential part of the scouring process to clean and bond the dye to your fiber.
We recommend using it to increase alkaline levels within any indigo vat.
